Historic custom house. The building had a long and protracted construction, stretching from 1853 to 1879, due to the Civil War. One of the most beautiful buildings in Charleston, both inside and out, it is at the end of the old slave market (it is called slave market because that is where slaves sold goods, not a place that sold slaves). At the corner of East Bay and Market, and Market and Concord it is a great place to take a break during your stroll of Charleston and explore.
