  hundreds of ezhavas(thiyyas) converted into islam between 17th and 18th century due to discrimination from upper class. many of their temples also conevrted into mosque(prayer halls of Muslims). i am currently researching on this subject as part of my phd program on the subject caste pattern of malabar coast. if anyone has more on this pls let me know. thanks selrosh
