combined heat and power plant
Add category
In order to meet the constantly growing electrical power and thermal heating needs of the Seattle campus of UW, this building creates electricity through steam generation, then uses the steam to heat many buildings on campus.
Heating oil and natural gas are ignited and used to heat water. The water evaporates into steam and rises, pushing turbines that generate electricity. The steam is condensed and piped to different buildings to provide steam heat.
