Baisaran plains, Pahalgam. Entry fees are for one adult 5 Rs and for children below 14 years 2 Rs each.
Nicknamed "Mini Switzerland" due to its perceived long and dark fields reminiscent of those found in Switzerland.

During the period of British Raj, the potential of it being a tourist site was recognized by the authorities as a place to hide from the heat on the Indian plains. The valley was further popularized by Bollywood filmmakers.

On April 22, 2025, at about 2:45 p.m. IST (UTC+05:30), five militants entered the valley and shot at tourists standing near mountains. The shocked crowd that experienced the shootings were then confronted and asked about the religion they adhere to segregate Muslims from Hindus, while the latter, if identified, were killed. Some tourists were forced to recite one of the Six Kalmas or be checked for circumcision, an acceptable practice in Islamic jurisprudence. If none of the signs were present, they would also be killed. The attack killed 26 people and left 20 injured, and seriously exacerbated the tensions between India and Pakistan, cutting off two long-active treaties, expelling various diplomats and closing the two countries' borders, aswell as embroiling them into a three-day airstrike war that ended with a ceasefire in May.
