Upper Wardha Dam is situated near Simbhora village , 8 Kms towards the East from Morshi on the Wardha River in Morshi Taluka of Amravati District of Maharashtra. It is now named as Nal-Damyanti Sagar. It is an earthen dam with height of 36 Meters & 7 km length. Wardha river is a boundary between Amravati & Wardha Districts. It irrigation capacity is nearly 75000 Hectors of land in these two districts. A tourism center is being developed at this site.

Official Designation of Upper Wardha Dam Irrigation Project is " Upper Wardha Dam , D - 02982 " . Upper Wardha Dam was constructed as parts of Irrigation Projects by the Government of Maharashtra and completed in the year 1993 . It is built on and impounds a Wardha River, a tributary of the Godavari River. The dam is an Earth fill + Masonry gravity Dam .The Length of dam is 5920 m ( 19422.57 Feet ) , while the Height of the dam above lowest foundation is 46.2 m ( 151.5748 feet ) . Project has Ogee.... type of spillway . Length of the spillway is 240.5 m ( 789.04192759.8425 Feet ). The Dam has 13 Radial type of spill gates. The Dam's catchment area is 430.2 Thousand Hectors . Maximum / Gross storage capacity is 678.27 MCM. Live storage capacity is 564.05 MCM. Now a days almost all the water bodies make for good picnic spots.Upper Wardha Lake / Nal- Damayanti Sagar is also a popular Tourist attraction for its scenic beauty .
