Arunavati is a major irrigation project across river Arunavati a tributary of river Penganga in Godavari basin. The dam is located near Savanga of Digras taluka in Yavatmal district, Maharashtra. The CCA of the project is 25295 hectare and the ultimate irrigation potential of the project is 25155 hectare. The main component of the project is:

Earthen dam (including spillway) 4810.0 meter long with maximum height of 29.58 meter and 360.0 meter long saddle dam.
Masonry spillway 162.0 meter long with maximum height of 18.23 meter. The spillway has 11 radial gates of 12 x 8 meter size to pass the design flood discharge of 8525 cumec.
46.00 km long Right bank canal with design discharge of 7.14 cumec and 56.0 km long, Left bank Canal with design discharge of 14.896 cumec.
The project was approved by TACTechnical Advisory Committee in 1989 for an estimated cost of Rs 66.48 crore (1987-88 price level). The project was revised in the year 2007 and the Planning Commission gave investment clearance in 2007 year itself for an estimated cost of Rs 225.32 crore (2006-07 price level) with CCA as 25295 hectare and potential of 25155 hectare. The project is completed during 2008-09.

Arunawati Project and Dam's Official Designation is "Arunawati , D -0 3008" . Arunawati Dam was constructed as part of irrigation + Hydroelectric project by Government of Maharashtra in the year 1994 . Nearest city to dam is Digras and the Dam is situated in Digras Taluka of Yavatmal District of Maharashtra . It is built on and impounds Arunavati River ,. The dam is an Earth-fill Gravity + Masonry Dam .The length of dam is 5170 m ( 16961.94 Feet ) , while the height of the dam above lowest foundation is 29.5 m ( 96.78 Feet ) . Project has a Spillway of Ogee type Length of the spillway is 162 m ( 531.49 Feet ). The Dam Spillway has 11 Radial Type of spillway gates . Dam's catchment area is 89.4 thousand hectors. Maximum / Gross storage capacity is 198.395 MCM. Live storage capacity is 169.675 MCM. Now a days almost all the water bodies make for good picnic spots. Arunawati lake is also a popular Tourist attraction for its scenic beauty .
