  • The pookkunnu, as I know, is the tallest hill in the Nanminda clearly visible from my house i.e. Meethal Valaram kunnath near Anchampalam which is seperating Nanminda panchayat and Atholi panchayat...The hill provides a beautiful sight to those sitting on Ongorappara M.V.Asokan Meethal Valaram Kunnath, Chikkildoe
  • The name Pukkunnumala means the “Golden Hill” which had been derived from the Malayalam word Ponkunnu Mala (because of its golden coloured grass), is one of the unexplored tourist destination of Nanminda panchayathu. With its intoxicating air, breathtaking scenery and serenity that you can hardly find in any other hill station. In pukkunnumala we can find a group of tribes settled, Karimbalan’s are in the Hindu fold, primitive forms of worship still prevail among them. Pukkunnumala will entice anyone with trees and grass with their graceful branches silhouetted in artistic curves against the evening sky like stark Zen etchings. The sea view make an awesome effect, broken fragments of light from the setting sun are caught and kindled in the wind rippled water appearing like a myriad lamp floating on the sea. Soon, as though on cue, light starts twinkling all over the hillside, and even the stars pick up the message, heaven and earth are a riot of light, as though beaming message of goodwill to each other.
