Kadampa monastery (chin.: Rezhen Gongba) in Lhünzhub county. Reting was built in 1056 by Dromtönpa (1005-1064), the sects's founder. In 1240 the Mongols sacked the monastery severely. Tsongkhapa was here in 1397 and had a vision of Atisha. After Tsongkhapa reformed the Kadampa school, the monastery became a Gelugpa institution. The Cutural Revolution left it severely damaged. During the recent years a lot of reconstruction work was done. About 160 monks have in Reting their residence.
