Sam Barlow is a comprehensive public high school that opened in September 1968. The school is named after Oregon Trail pioneer Samuel Kimbrough Barlow. In 1845 Barlow helped to establish an overland passageway around Mt. Hood to Oregon City, a route now known as Barlow Road. The school is home to the "Bruins" athletic teams.
