For an urban setting in Kiev 1970. became aktualnoym task of finding additional space for housing, not only on the new arrays, but also blocks of old buildings, due to their modernization. Quite promising in this regard were the so-called blocks of the new building, which was formed before the revolution along the river side. Lybed and the railway line. Main street area - st. Velyka Vasylkivska - experienced some reconstruction on it, a number of multistory buildings. What about the parallel streets of Antonovycha and Malevycha a significant part of their development, especially south of the street. Ivan Fedorov, was 1 - 2-storey buildings modest architecture. Reconstruction of these decrepit neighborhoods could not only provide a significant yield of living space, but also to form a new panorama of the city at the entrance to the railway.

In 1972, the USSR State Committee for Construction, USSR Union of Architects and the City Council held an architectural competition to design a renovation area. Winners of this contest are young kievproektovtsy Zorin and B. Rosenberg. In the future of their concept formed the basis of thorough project design, implemented Kievproekt (unfortunately, without the participation of Alexander Dmitrievich Zorina, who died prematurely). The territory of the reconstruction amounted to 135.6 hectares.

The main feature of the renovated quarters was a large-scale solution to building a new link with the active inclusion of the urban landscape. Achieving this was made possible through the combined 11 - 14-storey residential buildings between st. Bitter and Bozhenko into a compact mass. The project envisaged the establishment of a large rate of some 18-20-storeyed tower-houses. Importance was placed on a color palette of ceramic liner: light tones of higher buildings form a dramatic contrast to the intense color of terracotta lower.

It must be emphasized that during the reconstruction of the most valuable historic buildings were saved. Moreover, the architecture of new buildings found a means of integrating with the old: to apply uneven residential sections, with an expressive plasticity of volumes used pitched roofs bezrulonnye it.p. Lower level of building is calculated on the perception of a close-range and focused on the daily lives of residents. Institutions of social and domestic purposes solved mainly as embedded and attached objects. Rational planning of apartments with provision of sound insulation, the organization of yard space with seating areas and the use of drops of relief for the "hidden" farm buildings and garbage bins and other similar measures aimed at creating a comfortable environment for living.


In the design concept was proposed a unified transport scheme of service area, with a decision Str. Velyka Vasylkivska and Antonovycha as highways one-way traffic in the opposite direction and tap the cargo flow on a special trail along the railroad. For the then state of congestion of urban transport networks, these provisions were not implemented, but now they have gained urgency.
