Former apartment building of I. S. Baskakov constructed in 1912-193 by the architect O. G. Piotrivich.

The modern six-storied rental property was completed in 1914 by the architect O.G. Piotrovich. The massive gray building was constructed in neoclassical style. The central entrance way to the building is marked by a semicircular bay window on the third and fourth floors.

The house of Baskakov on Povarskaya was the last address of writer I.A. Bunin prior to his emigration. In an apartment on the ground floor belonging to his wife's parents, Bunin lived and worked from October, 26th, 1917 until May, 21st, 1918. From here the writer left first to Odessa, then to Constantinople and finally to Paris. In memory of the writer in 1993 on the facade was placed a memorial plaque (sculptor G.I.Pravotorov, artist-architect S.I.Smirnov).

In 2007 in square near to this house the monument to I.A.Bunin has been established.

In 2004 I.S.Baskakova's profitable house is accepted under the state protection as the revealed object of a cultural heritage.
