Built @ 1866 by architect William Russell Walker (1830-1905) for Charles L. Anthony. By 1883, the property had been sold to real estate developer Alfred Smith (1809-1886). By 1893, the property had been sold to Darius Ogden Mill II (1825-Secretary of the Treasury under President Herbert Hoover), and was subsequently inherited by his son, Darius Ogden Mills III (1855-1829), and grandson, Ogden Livingston Mills (1884-1937)(. The property left the family before 1951, when it was acquired by James Gordon Douglas, Jr. (b.1877)
• Ocean View is in the Second Empire French style, the height of fashion for Newport cottages in the 1860s.
• Darius Ogden Mills III inherited from his father a fortune from banking and railroads associated with the silver and gold mines of Nevada and California.
• Ocean View remains a private residence.
