The ruins which are believed to be the best samples of old architecture in Jamaica, are the remains of an old sugar factory and distillery formerly called Maggoty Estate.The most prominent buildings in these ruins are the sugar boiling house and distillery, the long rectangular sugar mill and a two-storey limestone building with a flight of semicircular stairs leading to an arched doorway.
