Second World War 1939-1945, place with historical importance, mine
Originally a limestone Mine, Richard Mine was converted into a reinforced underground production facility for the assembly of German Tiger tank parts during the second world war. With over 30 km of underground passages (many now in a dangerous state of collapse), some areas of the mine were purposely sealed after the retreat of German forces, leading to rumours of buried secrets still hidden within the mine.
