house, plantation
Arcadia Pen was originally owned by Hon. William Barrett (1733-1787) who also owned neighbouring Barnstaple, where he is buried. The date (1832) chiselled in the Great House front doorway keystone marks the beginning of the Sewell family ownership. I believe the House is presently owned by Mr Heinz Simonich of the Half Moon Hotel. Arcadia Mountain came into the possession of the Commonwealth Missionary Society who sold it to Kaiser Bauxite Co in 1954.
