This junction connects the main London to Brighton Motorway with Crawley and Horsham. The A23, second exit (north bound), goes into Crawley Town Centre, while the first exit (north bound), joins the A264 into Horsham. Also on this junction is a Service Station off Brighton Road at Pease Pottage, which is accessible via the fourth exit (north bound), of the roundabout. This road continues into the Pease Pottage village, and joins the country roads that lead to Brighton, and other areas of rural Sussex.
Initially it was planned to extend the M23 to Brighton, providing a direct Motorway link from London to the South Coast, but this was never implemented.
