Wetlands 16 is a 100 acre Army Corps of Engineers supervised wetlands mitigated for the Double Diamond residential development project. Largely abandoned for restoration and development by the ACE, Wetlands 16 is reverting to "upland," or non-wetland status. When declared as upland by ACE which could happen as early as 2016, the mitigated land will lose its protected status and the owner, Roger Norman, will be able to develop at will. Wetlands 16 is made up of the vast tract bordered by Double R Blvd (named for "R"oger and his development partner) and Double Diamond Pkwy in the west and east and South Meadows Pkwy and Damonte Ranch Pkwy to the respective north and south. The so-called "drain" is the outlet for Whites Creek as it permeates Wetlands 16 and channels out to Steamboat Creek.
