Monument to 43rd WESSEX REGIMENT which fought and gained this Vantage Point (OPERATION EPSOM) in July 1944 during the Battle for Normandie. HILL 112 is indicated 400 metres SOUTH.

  • My Dad's tank was knocked out here, it 'brewed up'. ('B' squadron, 23rd Hussars, 11th Armoured) He was trapped inside, as his gun was over his hatch... he couldn't get out! The fire didn't put his mate & fellow crew member, Bill Dorrington off, though, who ran back to get him out. Both survived the rest of the war to grow old, be loved, & have families. Whew!
