VOSBURG HOUSE, 1907. A March 1907 Pasadena Star and Azusa Pomotmpic newspaper article announced the upcoming construction of the home at a cost of $10000. The house, built on the Rancho de Alisal, was designed by 14-year-old Murray Vosburg and constructed by Fedrick A. Frye. It reflects the character of the California-style architecture popular during the era. Originally used as Vosburg's summer getaway, it became the family's permanent residence in 1918. After his mother's death, Murray and his family occupied the house. They then leased it to various tenants until its sale in 1952 to the Monrovia Nursery Company, when it became the residence for the Rosedale family and later home to Martin W. Usrey, a key nursery developer, and his family. In 1955, the building became the company's headquarters.
