445-foot, 44-story postmodern residential building completed in 1987. Designed by Ulrich Franzen, it is clad in contrasting red and tan brick. The tower is surrounded on the north and west sides by an 8-story low-rise portion. This section has a rusticated white stone base with a grey granite water table. The upper floors are clad in red brick, with a cream-colored brick 9th floor. The windows are alternating double and triple casements, with the top floor having all triple windows.
The tower, on the southeast corner of the site, is mostly clad in tan brick. Above the 8th floor, the four center bays on the east and west elevations, and the three center bays on the north and south elevations, are recessed and clad in red brick. Rectangular balconies line the outer bays of these center sections up to the 23rd floor. Both the tan brick and red brick sections have double and triple casement windows with air conditioning vents cut below each one. Above the 14th floor, there are setbacks at the corners, with angled bays clad in black metal and glass. The red brick-clad penthouse and mechanical floor at the top are set back, with vaulted glass on the north and south sides, and large circles in the centers of the stepped-back crown's north and south sides.
One of the tallest structures at Battery Park City, Liberty Court offers breathtaking views of the harbor, the Statue of Liberty, the World Financial Center and the Lower Manhattan Skyline. The building contains 548 apartments, and has a parking garage accessed from Thames Street.
