Originally largely a Cleveland enclave, the Point was settled by a number of families associated with Standard Oil and others from Boston, Philadephia, New York and elsewhere.

Music also played a part in the colony's founding and Parker Point remains an integral part of one of the least spoiled, most modest yet highly cultured and tradition-minded of Maine's summer communities.

Nearby Kollegewidgewock Yacht Club is a well-run and democratically organized institution founded in reaction to the formality and strictures of the New York Yacht Club. It is, however, dedicated to the highest standards of nautical pedagogy and maintains a very competetive racing schedule as home of a fleet of Atlantic class sloops.

  • The polygon defining this feature is not correct. It takes in areas that are neither geographically nor traditionally on "The Point". Parker Point Road is a long route but no addresses on it are actually on the Point, which is traversed as well as bounded by the two roads going in and out of it: Parker Lane (sometimes called Avenue) and Maple Lane.
