Teremok gallery sits above a double-arched gateway. From these windows the Metropolitans of Krutitsy gave blessings to the people who gathered and distributed alms to the beggars. Designed by Osip Startsev with the assistance of Hilarion Kovalev, its northern facade is entirely decorated with carved limestone columns and the window frames are covered with an intricately interwoven pattern of branches, leaves and flowers on painted tiles in a profusion of greens, yellows and browns with occasional touches of blue and white made by the potters' from the sloboda down the road. The double-arch entrance is lined with frescoes and leads to the monastery courtyard which once was filled with rose gardens.
