Fort Island Gulf Beach

Manmade beach on the Gulf Coast. One can get there by taking State Road 44 West off of US 19 in downtown Crystal River. Just recently, a viewing dock was built over the water past the beach.

  • It is a beautiful 9 mile drive,to fish off the pier in late afternoon and then watch a magnificent sunset.
  • Just don't look north or you'll see the nuclear towers. :-)
  • The cooling towers are not for a nuke plant
