Its exterior recalling movie houses of the 1940s and 1950s, the Colonial Theatre screens both new releases as well as classic films.

The theater made a noteworthy appearance in the 1958 film "The Blob," in a scene featuring spooked moviegoers rushing out of the theater in terror.

As a result of this notoriety, the theater is a central location during each year's "Blobfest," a summertime festival dedicated to the film and its local ties. Its lobby festooned with souvenirs, the theater screens the 1958 classic for 24 hours.
