The now abandoned site of the Phoenix Iron Company (later the Phoenix Steel Corp.). Orignally founded in 1790 as a nail works. The site is best known for producing the Phoenix Column, used in early iron bridges and skyscrapers; and the Griffen Gun, a cannon used extensively in the American Civil War. See the Wikipedia article for more history.

The site is under cleanup management of The Philadelphia Property Group, and has been for YEARS. Little progress has been made on this site, and it remains a hot political topic.

Some work on the South Eastern Section should begin in 2007, adding Stores, Apartments, the "French Creek Parkway" and a Large Green Space alongside French Creek itself.

Comments

  • Correction above: as of May 2007, managed by the "Phoenix Property Group" (PPG), part of the Delta Organization.
  • Polygon is fairly notional (i.e. I made a educated guess).
