fishing area, canoeing, nature conservation park / area
The Cut is a natural stream connecting Higgins and Houghton Lakes. At one point the Cut was dredged to enable logs to be floated down to Houghton Lake. Time and nature are reclaiming the Cut to a more natural state. There is very little development along the cut, so wildlfe is in abundance. Beaver, deer, eagles, heron, other birds and, of course, fish are plentiful. The Cut is a favorite destination of those enjoying canoeing, bird watching, fishing and just getting back to nature.
