Wild Horse Wind and Solar Facility

The Wild Horse Wind and Solar Facility is located in central Washington state, about 16 miles (26 km) east of Ellensburg, and can be accessed from the Vantage Highway (which runs parallel to and a bit north of Interstate-90). Built and operated by Puget Sound Energy it was commissioned in 2 phases: Phase I (2006, 229-megawatts) consists of 127 Vestas V80/1800 (1.8 megawatt) wind turbines; Phase II (2009, 39-megawatts) consists of 22 V80/1800 and /2000 turbines at the northern part of the site. The wind farm has a total of 149 turbines with a combined nominal capacity of 273 MW on a 10,800-acre (4,400 ha) site.
