  I, also, stayed near / close, in this areas, during 1963 to 1967! Cultured people; I LEARNT, the hard-working, with dignity, from the 'Kachhi Tribe', only, like Irish, stayed on this soil, in olden period!!! I must thank, the Tribal Community, of Shillong!! They were selling vegetables / fruits, fish and hot-tea in shinning cups; un-polluted; they, the girls, espaciously, WORKED HARD and followed studies, in the colleges; with dignity. Every Sunday, declaring the holiday, they attended, also, 'The Services', in Donboxo Church. May God bless; including 'the all'; my 'MA' / mother, departed, used to say and repeat, again.

  I, too had been in Shillong many years and was residing in the locality known as Lachumiere adjacent to Malki Point, I had so many friends there and don't know where they are now, I remember Jishnu Pratim Deb of Sailabas in the locality known as Dhankheti the name of the house was Sailabas, I also remember Rita Blah Pradip Blah! Bidhu a shop owner adjacent to Geological Survey of INDIA, (santu )Satyajit Datta
