After the Democratic Movement of 1990, Nepal's Election Commission was established to conduct and manage regular elections in the country. The Constituent Constituent Assembly (CA) formed after the historic elections of April 10, 2008 conducted and managed by the Election Commission, abolished 250 years old monarchy in Nepal and declared Nepal a Republic on May 26, 2008. There is one Chief Election Commissioner and 5 Commissioners.
