Located in northeastern Lithuania, covers area of 58 km². Administrative centre - Visaginas, there are 18 settlements.
Municipality is famous for Iganlina atomic plant (used in 1983-2009, it has the biggest reactor in the world, registered by Guiness fact book), wich was built nearby Drūkšiai - the largest lake in Lithuania. New Visaginas atomic plant is planned to be built in near future. Visaginas city was built for old plant workers, most of them are russian speaking citizens.
