Ballast Mining Area

Khadan Mine at south end of the area is active. There are active, in-active, abandoned, and flooded pits throughout this area. Ballast is used for both railroad track beds and the under-layers for roads. Road pavement is little more then wear resistance and water-proofing for the ballast layers that actually carry the load.
