It is one of the oldest small water reservoir. the water when overfilled will be released to this reservoir so that people in the city gets cooled off the heat at that time.This place it near to Taluk office next to Sammanthapuram.Mr.Jagan Rajaram house was resides here.

  • krishnan (bhaskar) tried learning swimming in this oorani (tank) unsuccessfully after a game of cricket in the nearby mandhai in the year 1984. He returned home after wiping his head with a hand kerchief!!!
  • There is a fire station adjacent to the oorani where we used to go for drinking water after playing heat in the scorching summer heat at the periya mandhai (where cattles going to western ghats assemble in the morning to be taken by cow herds). This was twenty years ago. Now a major portion of the mandhai has been taken over by the district administration for building obscene buildings!!
