  • The Nine Maidens (grid reference SW936675) are also known in Cornish as Naw-voz, or Naw-whoors meaning The nine sisters .[1] It is also worth noting that maiden is corruption of the Cornish word "Maen" meaning stone. This late neolithic stone row located 2 miles (3 km) to the north of the town of St Columb Major, in the Restormel district of Cornwall.
