It was here,in the year of our lord 1314, Robert The Bruce, King of Scots, led his massively outnumbered Scottish army to a famous and decisive victory over the English, on the boggy ground by the Bannock Burn. This eventually led to the English formally recognising Scottish independence in 1328, the year before King Robert died.
