Hearne is a city in Robertson County, Texas, United States.
Part of the College Station Metro area, Hearne is located north of Texas A&M on Texas Highway 6 (US79/US190).

As of 2011, the population is is 4491. Hearne is geographically small at just 4.1 square miles. Since the year 2000, the population has decreased by 5% reflecting the lack of businesses & industry. Known as "The Crossroads Of Texas," Hearne is nestled at the crossroads of two major highways as well as two major Union Pacific Railroad lines. TX 6 and US 79 cross in Hearne. The former east-west Missouri Pacific Railroad line converges with the former north-south Southern Pacific Railroad line in Hearne.

It is pronounced as "hurn".

  • A bit of nostalgia for me--it had everything I loved as a kid. Railroads, telegraph lines, a neat old downtown, and a few other relics that don't exist any more. Of course, in reality, the population has been on the decline for years, corruption is rampant, and crime is above-average compared to the state and nation.
