office building, bank, high-rise, 1985_construction, Modern (architecture)

325-foot, 25-story modernist office building completed in 1985 as the operations center for Irving Trust. Designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, it is clad in a grey metal and silver reflective glass curtain wall. The building rises to 19 floors on its east side, with each bay along the north and south sides stair-stepping up one floor to the full height on the west side. The southeast corner at Barclay and Greenwich is rounded. An atrium occupies the center core.

During the September 11th 2001 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center, the building was badly damaged, mostly due to the collapse of the 7 World Trade Center, across the street. The collapse shattered most of the windows on the southern facade and debris poured into the atrium. Due to the damage the building was closed down from September 11, 2001 to July 12, 2002 when it reopened.

The ground floor is occupied by a Chase Bank branch, a Hallmark card store, a newsstand, and a BNY Mellon bank branch.
