Barbarossa Castle (or Castello Barbarossa) is a ruined fortification that was originally constructed in the 10th century. It was named for the Turkish admiral who invaded in 1535.

Today it's owned by the Axel Munthe Foundation, which also operates an ornithological research station at the site.
