The original student union structure was built in 1971 and contained various student organization and publication offices, a bank, snack bar, pool tables, the Campus Bookstore, and a large multi-purpose room. Construction of a 60,000 square foot, $6 million addition was completed in 1994, adding a multi-sport gym, elevated indoor track, aerobics room, weight room, racquetball and handball courts, and locker rooms. The project also expanded the Bookstore and snack bar areas in the original structure, and houses the center for outdoor recreational experiences. A convenience store was added on the main floor in 2002. Major renovations and additions to the facility are currently underway.

In May of 2007, the facility was named in honor of Dr. Frank G. Pogue, president of the University from 1996 to 2007, in recognition of his 11 years of service to Edinboro and the region.
