house, place with historical importance
This ramshackle old shed is actually Saskatoon's oldest building. Built in 1883, this was one of the original houses from the temperance colony founded by John Lake. In 1920 the house was moved to the back of the lot and converted into a garage while at the front, the Gustin Residence was built. In 1989 both buildings were designated municipal heritage properties.
There is legitimate concern about the building's condition, and it is hoped that funding for restoration will be made available. In 2007, Trounce House was temporarily moved while a stable concrete pad was constructed for it to rest on. It was then moved back onto the pad to await further restoration.
