Tata Motors in June 2010 rolled out the first Nano cars from its main manufacturing plant at Sanad. The construction time was a record breaking 14 months. The cost amounted to 20 Milliard Indian Rupees (Ca. 20 Milliard Euro). During the starting period the production plant employed 2.400 staff. Including the indirect jobs around the plant there were about 10.000 people depending on the initial production. The plant has a capacity to manufacture 250,000 cars a year in the first phase, which will be scaled up to 500,000 cars a year.

  • It's the proud of GUJARAT. We welcome Ratan Tata.
  • narendra modi tatha teni tim ne khoob, khoob dhanyawad, aava ne aava sara kam karasho, ane gujarat nu gaurav vadharsho tevi shubhechha, jaisadguru.
  • wel-com tata
  • Nano Car project its very Big Victory in Gujarat
  • Most indian believes tata as best entrepreneur who does business with ethics. We wel-come Tata. For his patronism, wisdom & anti-corrupt behaviour. As he said once he has never put head down to Corrupt Govt. Official & So the Narendra Modi has welcomed him for knowing his such quality. We the people of Gujarat will definitely more than glad to see this Deal between a Anti-Corrupt-Politician & Nobel Entrepreneur.
  • Well we should also note, that this project will bring prosperity to Sanadn Region. And it will bring other Mfg co in same area. Maruti has changed Entire Gurgon Region, and I assume Nano will do the same. I suspect that this region will see fast growth and eventually Sanand will merge into Ahmedbad.
  • But all the employees have been imported from bengal. This is injustice done to gujarat. The factory should employ youths from gujarat and give them priority.
  • But after 3 years, does it feel the same? Some Facts : 1. Nano is not getting the kind of response from market which was anticipated. 2. After 3 long years, still the other hatchbacks [speacially Maruti-Suzuki and Hyudai] have bigger per quarter sell figure 3. Some say that TATA got disappointed by the situation faced in West Bengal and shifted to Gujarat, but is it really so? It does not seem to be....In West Bengal TATA got more than 1000 Acres of land just beside an Expressway [Durgapur Expressway, NH 2] which was just 45 minute drive from proper kolkata, I am not sure what the situation in Sanand, In West Bengal they got the land as neerly free [It was a 90 year lease, but payment will be initiated only after 60 years and to be made in 30 yearly installment!!!!], can my brothers in Gujarat throw some light on this point? The Govt. of West Bengal lend TATA a huge amount of money [some figure in Crores] with a 1% rate of interest per year, Do you think all these favor was justified, TATA was not doing any social service there, they were just trying to setup a business from which they were to be the main beneficiary, the benefits that the state and people would have was just the side efffects.. The main conflict in Singur [West Bengal] was with the size of the plant site, the protesters [Trinamul Congress and allies] were asking them to make the plant on 600 Acre and release the remaining 400 Acre. Someone please verify and confirm the final size of the Nano Project Site in Sanand as I could not find the latest confirmed figure
  • As per wikipedia TATA paid an amount of INR. 900 per Square Metre for the 1100 Acre of land in Gujarat, whereas they got the land in West Bengal free as of then, [because they would have to start payment only after 60 years].
  • This is wrong that all the worker are imported from Bengal, rather most of the workers are from gujrat from local areas only Vivek Saxena
