RCAF Station Puntzi Mountain was a Pinetree Line long range radar station during the Cold War. The station operated between 1952 and 1966. For most of this time, it was operated by the 917th Aircraft Control & Warning Squadron, USAF, then was turned over to the RCAF in 1962 where it was operated by 55 Aircraft Control & Warning Squadron.

    My dad (Ed Nelsen) was stationed in 1956. I recently found a photograph he took of Bill Gibbs in the maintenance room in May 1956.

    I have not looked at this site prior to now. I was stationed in Puntzi from Feb 1963 until Dec. 1963 when I got out of the service to go railroading in Capreol Ontario.
