When the war ended in 1945, the northern part of East Prussia became a part of the USSR. The new-come people had to master amber manufacture, which was absolutely unfamiliar to them. They had to organize workshops, then a small amber factory. In the 1950s they already extracted an average of 240 tons, and in the 1980s and 1990s they manufactured about 700 tons of amber a year.
