Built 1982-1983 on the site of the 1952 Carlton House Hotel, which was imploded in 1980. At 725 feet and 55 stories in height, the skyscraper is the second tallest in Pittsburgh. It was named One Mellon Center until Mellon Financial Corporation, which had its global headquarters here, merged with Bank of New York in 2007 to form The Bank of New York Mellon.
