Building of the former Saint Louis Train Station, which was part of the old Teresina-Saint Louis Railroad, managed by the Federal Railway Network (RFFSA). Inaugurated on November 15, 1929, with the name of Benedito Leite Station, and later renamed João Pessoa Station (after the Paraíba political murder), the station was built on a landfill where stood the Nail Beach, in the estuary of Anil River.

Prior to its construction, the line of Teresina-Saint Louis Railroad was only until the Araracanga Station (off and demolished in 1980), existing since 1921 in the Maracanã neighborhood. From there, the line went to the Mondubé Station (off), which is currently the Estiva neighborhood, where he was made the transfer of cargo and passengers through the Strait of Mosquitoes, to the continuation of the line that went to Perizes Station (also disabled). This ended up when it was built the bridge over the Strait of Mosquitoes, along with the Saint Louis Station, the new end point of the railroad route. In 1938, the railroad was completed until Teresina, with the construction of the bridge over the Parnaíba River, ending with the transfer taken by river to reach the other side. The railroad was also experiencing places like Coroatá, Codó, Caxias and Timon, before coming to Teresina.

In 1986, the transport of passengers between Teresina and Saint Louis was closed, and the railroad passed into the hands of the Northeastern Railway Company - CFN (today Transnordestina Logistics S.A.). The stretch of 12 km of track running from the station to the Tirirical neighborhood (which were built a new station and switching yard) was removed, and then taken of affordable housing and the current Victory Road / Governor Luiz Rocha Avenue. Surrounding the station, in the place where stood the switching yard was built the Maria Aragão Square (designed by Oscar Niemeyer), and where the rails today passed are Beira Mar Avenue and José Sarney Avenue, who are part of the Ring Road of Saint Louis. The old station building was transformed into the headquarters of the of Civil Police of Maranhão, which became the headquarters offices specializing Public Security Bureau.

In 2014, the police stations were moved to a new own building in the Apicum neighborhood in the Central Zone, and since then, the old station building is closed and abandoned. There is a bill of the Federal Government to transform the building into a cultural space, as happened with the old Teresina Train Station.
