Amstdamse Strekdam

Netherlands / Noord-Holland / Weesp /
panoramic view, dam, invisible, do not draw title

This 'dam' has been in use in the past as an outlet for Amsterdam's sewerage outlet. It led straight from the city center to the open waters of the 'Ijsselmeer' (or 'Zuiderzee' as it was called back then).

Nowadays, it's open for the public and provides a nice 30 minute walk at the end of which you'll be able to look out over a part of the Ijsselmeer and even see Pampus in the distance. Definately worth your while.

After a 30 minute walk back again, you can relax at the small 'restaurant' called 'Kaap Kot', located there as the first structure on solid land. This place is also a Vip-spotting ground.
