  PAO (ORS) MRC, Wellington - A nostalgic place for me. My Father Mr.M.Rajagopal served at this office between 1978-79 up to 1986. I used to visit the office during weekends and on special occassions. DARC Club, ( Defence Accounts Recreation Club) was focal point of all the families during special days. Ball Badminton was played regularly in the open grounds between the stone office building and the canteen area. I have witnessed Tombola/Bingo being played on Sundays. On the DARC Day, families would participate in various games and sports activities. Kids games were fun and we enjoyed a lot. The evening was usually a stage activity presented by people from PAO ORs MRC. Most memorable was a Comedy Skit played by Mr.A.Jayavelu and Mr.Shanmugam, that of a Master and Servant Singaram. The canteen dished out lovely dishes... Appukutty,Mohan, Nair...who worked there were quite friendly with us kids. It was fun visiting the office as family of staff member.   Thank you Mr Chanu for adding more details - reminding of the Tambola games and Ball Badminton, about Rajavelu and Shanmugam, Appukutty, Mohan etc. I came across some calls from people from the PAO and MRC too - but unknown to me. And I was unable to help them to their queries since it is more than 32 years since I served there and I am due for retirement from service tax of Central Revenue Dept in July 2011! I would invite more people who have served with me or their children to add their personal details. I am addin my old 1977 and the present photos for identification in tis page.

I joined this office as Auditor in the year 1976 (June). We, the batch which joined on probation in june 1976, had a pleasant time - stayed in monthly rooms in some lodges and had food at Shanti Nivas(kutty, the manager/cook). Four+2 of such officers stayed in Balaclav, Mount Pleasant, Coonoor at the house of one Mr Sanjeevi of Central Excise Dept. I remember some of the names Gunasekaran of Kudumudi, Jeyachandran of Avadi Chennai( he late joined me at Aruvankaadu Residence), Simon of Purasavalkam Kosapaettai chennai, KarunaMoorthy of Ambattur (I joined to stay in Shanthinivas in 1977). Mr Manoharan was our AO in 1977. More persons who served in 1977 - Veluchamy, sorry my recollection is poor but I remember many of them I upload photos in this site or I create a marking and upload the Black and White Photos of the Tour to Mysore and picnics in Ooty. In 1977 Oct 15th I joined the Central Excise Dept at Madurai reluctantly terminating my link to Nilgiris. I coul make a ouple of visitsto this place and office. Then I was not sure of known faces.
