West is a city in McLennan County, Texas, located off of I-35 north of Waco. The population was 2,674 at the 2010 census. The city was incorporated in 1892 and named after first postmaster Thomas West. The community is the location of Westfest, a festival celebrating the city's large Czech population and their heritage.
The city was brought to international attention in April 2013 after a large explosion occurred at a nearby fertilizer plant.
