Victoria Falls Bridge

Zimbabwe / Matabeleland North / Victoria Falls /
 railway bridge, road bridge

A bridge over Zambezi River. It lies in the border between Zimbabwe and Zambia. Back in the days of racial separation (Apartheid) and the trade embargo against the Republic of South Africa and the nation of Rhodesia this bridge was one of the bioggest on-going charades of that time. A Rhodesian steam engine wold push a string of freight cars out to the middle of the bridge. A Zambian Rail diesel would back onto it's end of the string and pull it into Zambia. The reverse would also happen - several times a day. Most if not all of the explosives used in the vast Zambian copper industry came from the Modderfontein B explosives works outside of Pretoria.

  • Very cool place to see the falls from ... just beware of the local rather aggressive people on the bridge - DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THEM!!
