Cold War 1947-1991, bunker, microwave tower / microwave transmission
This underground bunker was build by AT&T during the 1960s as a secret hardened underground bunker to carry communications. It was built out of the need to wire the nation with a system capable of withstanding a nuclear attack. The L carrier lines ran buried across the US with a main station such as this one every so many miles. It then would "talk" to Philadelphia via microwave towers. The site is now obsolete and abandonded, but the microwave towers still stand, falling apart and decrepit.
