  In the summer this is also a US Coast Guard Small Boat Station, with 41' UTB's and 25' Defender Class boats.

  This is the old Chicago Life Saving Station. It is home not only to the Coast Guard during the summer (a detachment from the USCG Calumet Base) but the Chicago Fire Department now, housing their new fireboat, Engine 2 (The Christopher Wheatley), the old fireboat Engine 58 (The Victor Schlaeger) and the summer home for 6-8-8, a small fireboat. http://www.chicagoareafire.com/Div_9_D1_B1_2.html
